Just a few notes before our first day:
Clothing
We have various clothing items that are branded with the company logo on them: long and short sleeve shirts, hats and jackets. You are welcome to wear long pants or shorts, whatever you prefer for the weather. Jeans are fine, but I recommend some sort of ‘performance / flex’ type clothing. Polyester material is best. Our Power Clean shirts are all polyester. Polyester is bleach and chemical resistant. Anytime I use the pressure washer, bleach is most likely involved. So cotton based pants/shorts/socks will inevitably get bleach spots on them. So you’re looking for clothing that you can easily move around in and not get too hot. But is also compatible with wearing a tool belt, similar to a construction tool belt, but with squeegees and towels in the holsters. Basketball shorts are generally a no go. And don’t wear anything offensive to a business or home owner.
Your shoes will get wet because we work with buckets of water. And we walk in the dirt grass and mulch. So I don’t reccommend wearing your new all white shoes. I wear boots when it’s colder, but when it’s hot, I’d rather wear lighter shoes and just deal with a little water getting on/in them. I personally prefer footwear that claims to be waterproof to mitigate the wetness in my feet.
I always bring a big water bottle and food/snacks with me. I don’t like stopping for a dedicated hour long lunch break. I will always eat in the truck, in between jobs. I prefer to eat light / snack on food all day while driving from job to job. If possible, I recommend bringing some sort of lunch bag with food/snacks, especially if you have dietary restrictions. I’ll gladly go through a drive through or stop at a gas station or whatever if needed. And we can sit in the truck and eat whenever needed. It’s just a fluid all day eating/drinking scenario. And I try not to live on fast food to much for my own health.
Daily routine
Always wear clean company shirts. If you don’t have any available then inform us and wear a blank solid print shirt as a substitute. Keep your hair trimmed and styled or wear a hat.
Use TCF app to clock in at the beginning of first job, clock out at the end of the day after the last job.
Use TCF app to mark job completed when done.
Clock out if taking an extended break of 30 minutes or more for lunch or if you are performing any non-job related tasks. Clock back in when returning to work. If you plan on a short break but it turns into a longer break, please let us know so we can adjust the clock-in time.
Generally speaking, if the break/meal period is 30 minutes or more, it would be unpaid. If it is 20 minutes or less, it will be paid. These short breaks are allowed once every few hours. Please don’t abuse this or the guidelines will become more defined. If there is any changes that need to be made to the clock-in time please let us know so we can make the needed adjustments. We will be reviewing the job times regularly to make sure everything is being completed in a timely fashion.
General Behavior
Be friendly and nice. A big portion of our job is to make the manager/customer happy. The amount of work that takes will vary.
Be friendly and show personal interest. While we’re cleaning entryways, open doors for people if possible, but at a certain point you may have to politely ask people to wait a moment so you can finish your work. Please do not waste time by stopping work and being chatty with people. In general, if people talk to you, keep working while you respond to them. If it is someone out doing shopping, they will realize that you have a job to do and will move on. If you stop working to respond to them it will signal them that you are willing to stand and converse for a bit. So respond but keep working.
The same goes in regard to the employees in the stores we clean. They are getting paid to do a job the same as we are. So it is inconsiderate to distract the employees from their job if we stop our job to talk with them.
The exceptions to this is if it the manager/paying customer. If the person in charge wants to speak to you about something about the job then show them respect by stopping your work and giving them your attention.
Always make sure you have business cards available and offer one to anyone who asks about our services.
Technique
We must wipe up any water inside; If its on the floor, or the window frame/sills, or tables and chairs. If the water is outside, its much more acceptable that water is on the ground.
Clean up water from floor immediately if it’s in a doorway or a high traffic zone.
Spiders and their webs are gross, but we are expected to knock down spiderwebs in the general area of the windows.
Know how long you have been on a job. We will not spend two hours on a $20 job.
If there are any issues or a manager has comments or questions then take a picture of the problem, send it to me and immediately call/text/facetime me.
